Back to Basics Teaching Institute is a non-profit organization. We are a second-generation homeschooling family who have a mission upon our hearts to see children and adults learn
sustainable living skills.

Our Design, Vision, & Mission
We value learning through both study and hands-on experience. Back to Basics currently serves homeschoolers grades 4-8 providing a nurturing, small-group learning environment where students are known, supported, and challenged to grow.
We strive to help parents and students navigate homeschooling challenges by guiding a well-rounded learning experience. Alongside parents, teachers, and other instructors we hope to restore the heart of education to its roots:

9:00-12:30pm Academics
Reading, writing, and mathematics, science, and history.
12:30-1:15 Lunch & Outdoor Time
1:15-2:30 Hands-on Living Skills
Students may engage in:
- Growing, harvesting, and preserving food
- Bread and cheese making
- Sewing and soap making
- Butchering and meat smoking
- Growing and using herbs
- Raising and caring for chickens and pigs
- Maple sugaring
- Wood working
- Foraging and plant identification
- Archery
- Art & craft projects
Come for a half or whole day. Come one day or more. Pick a schedule that works for you and your student.
